The Mission
The mission of this theatre company is to enrich
Omaha
and its surrounding areas with the highest quality, professional theatre,
meant to engage, educate and entertain, stimulating both feeling and
thought.
BSB actualizes this goal by (1) offering artists a
professional venue to pursue their craft; (2) specializing in the choice of
material it produces (classic plays and literary works, from ancient through
modern) under consistent and exemplary Artistic Direction; and (3) reaching
out to the community through workshops, lectures and performances, making
classic works accessible and relevant to people of all ages.
By communicating well-told stories through professional directing and
performance, Brigit Saint Brigit is enhancing the quality of life for those
it reaches and is striving to extend that reach by establishing a regional
repertory theatre.
Programming
1.)
The Theatre mounts 4-6 full-length productions
September-May.
Scripts are selected to dynamically deliver always-relevant
classics, while providing audiences with the widest contrast of genres, time
periods, and cultures.
2.) BSB regularly employs
actors, designers and stage managers.
Employment is on a per-show basis, and most casts are comprised
of, but not limited to, a core company of repertory players whose training
and rapport significantly contributes to the artistic consistency of our productions.
3.) Literacy Touring Program (LTP),
BSB's Educational Outreach
BSB further extends its community presence
through distinguished, affordable educational programming. Unique
interactive classes, workshops, seminars, lectures, and performances related
to the plays that the Theatre is offering in that particular season are
created each year for middle schools, high schools, universities, and
community groups. For more information, contact Scott Kurz through one of the
methods on the 'Contacts' page.
4.) Celebrating Ireland: A BSB Tradition
Every February, BSB celebrates its namesake and the rich literary
contributions of the Irish Celts by mounting an Irish-authored classic or
contemporary play. Often, collateral events such as music, dancing, or
speakers are presented in conjunction with the play.
